Vintage Cookie Cutters - Vintage Aluminum Cookie Cutters - Page 1
Aluminum cookie cutters have been popular for over 70 years - they are inexpensive and do not rust. Many companies have made cookie cutters, including Aluminum Specialties Company, Color Kraft, Currie-Van Ness, Enterprise Aluminum Company, Foley, G & S Metal Company, Inc., Mirro, Standard Aluminum Company, and Wear-Ever. They did not mark their cookie cutters, so we cannot tell who actual made the cookie cutters.
A cutter is almost always referred to as a cookie cutter. In the past, cutters were used for sandwiches, biscuits, cakes, hors d'oeuvres, and cookies.
There are also new uses for these cutters. Children love to use them for Play Doh, and they make cute Christmas tree ornaments. Some people display them in antique bowls, hang them from curtain rods or cabinet doors, attach them to wreaths or gifts, and use as napkin rings. Lots of possibilities here...
I have recently moved to a smaller house and am downsizing many of my collectibles including all these vintage aluminum cookie cutters. Cutters are fun to collect because there are so many different kinds, most are relatively inexpensive, and they are a fun addition to your retro kitchen. In my previous house I had some sitting in an antique bowl and some in an old crock. They were a great conversation piece!
