Old Weiss Pin Brooch - Signed - Sapphire AB Rivoli
This gorgeous Weiss brooch is signed on the back, set in silver-toned metal,
and is slightly over 1-3/4" across. It has gorgeous large round sapphire-colored
rivoli rhinestones set in a circle. Each rhinestone is almost 1/2" across. When
the light hits the rhinestones, you can see greens and purples - must be aurora
borealis. Absolutely stunning! This item comes packaged in a beautiful gift box.
I just bought this and couldn't wait to list it. It is so beautiful. It belonged
to the grandmother of the lady I bought it from. She said she was 45 years old,
so this is truly an old piece! No doubt about it!
It is in excellent condition! What a wonderful gift for yourself or for that
very special person on your gift list!
The Weiss Jewelry Company was founded in New York City in 1942 by a former Coro
employee, Albert Weiss. The company flourished during the 1950s and 1960s period,
offering high quality costume jewelry with excellent Austrian rhinestones of exceptional
quality and clarity. Weiss jewelry has somewhat traditional designs, including floral
and figural jewelry. Weiss jewelry is comparable to Eisenberg and Bogoff jewelry.
Without a doubt, the company manufactured some of the most beautiful jewelry and
appealing rhinestone jewelry of the post WWII era. The firm ceased operations in
the early 1970s, and prices are rapidly rising.
