The lady that I bought this antique pillow from said it is is called a jewelry pillow.
She said it was from the late 1800s. It was used on a dresser or table and jewelry
was placed on it at the end of the day. The lady would drape her bracelet or insert
her pins on this pillow in place of a jewelry box.
The front of this handmade quilt pillow is quilted with a combination of fabrics - velvet, silk,
lace, and crochet - and is corded at the edges. There are a number of items attached
to it: pins, bow, ribbon rose, and a plastic flower. The back of this pillow is
made from very soft velvet. Some people call this a crazy quilt pattern.
Measurements: 16" long, 4" top to bottom, and 2-1/2" deep.
This quilted pillow is in good condition for its age. Some of the fabric on the top is
stained and some of it is separating. The front and back of the pillow are still
firmly attached. I like the looks of the wear on the fabric - it makes it even more
special! This is a perfect piece for decorating your Victorian home. Take a look
at the pictures.
