Clothes Iron - Antique - German Cast Iron Coal

View Vintage Metalware Category

This original coal iron marked Dalli was made in Germany. It is fresh from an English auction!  I have two of these that are similar, but not the same. They are great to use to decorate your laundry room or kitchen or as a doorstop in your country home!

Hot coals were placed in the inside of this iron so that the iron would be hot enough to press the clothes. I am glad times have changed! To open and close the iron, just move the knob to the other side and lift the handle. The inside has a removable piece - I believe that you put the coals in this tray.

This iron is in very good original condition. The original wood handle and knob are made from very nice wood and are not chipped. There is surface rust on the inside, but the metal is still in great structural condition. It is not weakened because of the rust. I have not attempted to remove any of the rust. I removed some of the cobwebs, but I left a few for you!

This iron is 8" long, 4-1/4" wide and 7-1/4" high including the handle.

The top of the iron is marked "Dalli/PATENT."
