Royal Viking Lines - Porsgrund Peanut Shaker Cruise Line Memorabilia

This 1970's Porsgrund china peanut shaker was made for the the Royal Viking Line (RVL) of cruise ships. The Norwegian company of Porsgrund was founded in 1885 and has created superior porcelain and chinaware nonstop to the present.

The bottom of this peanut shaker is marked in green: "Porsgrund/PP with the anchor emblem between the letters/NORWAY/logo for Varefakta/Varefakta/P555." The large gold logo for the Royal Viking Lines is on both sides of the piece. This logo was developed circa 1970 and is based on a crimson eagle from Viking mythology. Most of these shakers have lost their corks, but this one still has its original cork.

It stands about 5 1/2" tall and is not round in the body. As you can see in the photos, the base is oblong and measures 3 1/4" wide and 2 3/4" in depth.

This is an understated gem for those who collect cruise line memorabilia. It is also a wonderful example of timeless Norwegian design and will be a great addition to your Danish Modern world. It would also work great as a bud vase or an oil or vinegar cruet.

It is in excellent condition with no cracks, nicks, chips, or crazing.
