Bed Warmer and Foot Warmer - Antique English Pottery

View Vintage Pottery Category

This old antique English pottery stoneware bedwarmer (footwarmer) is one of the early "hot water bottles." It was filled with boiling water and placed under the covers to warm up a cold bed. There is a "2" engraved on one end, so I assume that this bedwarmer holds 2 pints of water.

This antique English foot warmers or bed warmers are straight from England. They were originally filled with boiling water and placed under the covers to warm up a cold bed. Now, many people collect these warmers and use them to decorate their homes.

What a great conversation piece! Or, you could use it for those cold nights!

It measures 12" long, 5" wide, and 6-1/2" tall. It has a screw-type stoneware cap. There is a pretty design around the top, as shown in the pictures. The cap, handle, and the end that the handle is on are a medium brown.

This bedwarmer and cap have been well preserved and are in very good condition. A little bit of the brown glaze has worn off the cap. I don't see any cracks or chips.
