This Red Wing retro art deco swirled ashtray is marked "RED WING/U.S.A./828"
on the back. The shades of brown and red in this Red Wing stoneware ashtray are beautiful!
This vintage ashtray is in excellent condition and would make a perfect cigarette ashtray. There is no crazing, chips, scratches,
or repairs.
Measurements: 10" long and 3-3/4" across
Red Wing Stoneware Company was formed by local investors in Red Wing, Minnesota,
in the late 1800's. After a robust beginning, market conditions and competition
from both local and interstate rivals caused the formation of a new company in the
early 1900's. Combining the local potteries into the Red Wing Union Stoneware Company
improved marketing conditions. As the demand for stoneware diminished in the late
1930s, the name was changed to Red Wing Potteries. This plant closed in 1967.
